John R. McPhail, a Registered Nurse and Clinical Forensic
Specialist, holds not only a degree in Nursing, but also a Doctorate in Public Health. Since Retirement from the Forensic
Division of the Colorado Mental Health Institute, he has conducted workshops, seminars, and keynote addresses nationally and
internationally in the nursing, forensic mental health and law enforcement fields. A former police officer and investigator,
first commissioned in 1964, he utilizes his wide-ranging experiences to bring a fast paced, entertaining and dynamic style
including real life situations to his presentations of Verbal Judo. John has been a national trainer since earning his First
Degree Black Belt in Verbal Judo in 1988, being both trained and certified
by Dr. George Thompson, President and Founder of Verbal Judo
Dr. McPhail presently serves as secretary/treasurer of NecroSearch
International, a volunteer group working with law enforcement, which specializes in locating clandestine graves and the recovery
of the remains and associated evidence. He is a past two-term president of the Southeastern Colorado Law Enforcement Association
and is a Diplomat of the American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators. His professional memberships include the American
Academy of Forensic Sciences, The Forensic Science Society (Great Britain), International Wound Ballistics Association, The
American College of Forensic Examiners, International Association of Bloodstain Pattern Analysts, Academy of Correctional
Health Professionals, Colorado Law Enforcement Officers Association, International Homicide Investigators Association,
International Association of Forensic Nurses, American Correctional Association, American Society of Law Enforcement
Training, and International Police Association.
